Hi my name is Christine Brackin,
Cormier.
I was born in Shirley,
MA. January 30th, 1952. My
Father Wallace Randall Brackin and my Mother Helen
Martha Andreansky, Brackin lived on Fort Devens Army
base with my 3 older sisters, Carole, Patricia and
Susan. Dad born January 26, 1918 in Newark,
NJ. Died April 25, 1990 in Holliston,
MA. and Mom born September 1, 1919 in Newark,
NJ. Died April 11, 1989 in Framingham,
MA. My Mother
and 3 older sisters moved around a lot before I came
into the world. Both sisters, Carole Brackin, Wills was
born on January 14, 1944 and Patricia Brackin, Alix
born February 1, 1947 in Newark,
NJ. and Susan Brackin, Tomasetti was born on
February 4, 1950 in Panama. The story I’m told by my
older sister Carole is that when she came home from
school and tried to open the front door it was locked.
She tried to get my sister Patti who was 4 and my other
sister Sue who was 2 to come to the door and open it.
Carole couldn’t get anyone to open the door
and couldn’t hear my Mother’s
voice. A neighbor came by and tried to help Carole only
to see my Mother lying lifeless on the couch through
the window. The neighbor called an ambulance and the
military police to come open the door. My Mother was
hemorrhaging and had passed out. The neighbor took
Carole, Patti and Susie to her house while Mom pregnant
with me was rushed to the hospital. Mama told us later
that we both almost died that day and a priest was
brought in to give her last rights. Meantime Dad almost
had a heart attach trying to get to the hospital. Mama
had to have a C-section and I was fine. Mama had to
stay in the hospital almost 2 weeks so Dad had to take
care of my three sisters. While Mama and I were in the
hospital Carole contracted chicken pox and it spread to
Patti and Susie too. Now when Mama came home with me
and Dad had to go back to work she not only had to take
care of a newborn but three little sick kids! Oh how my
Mother was tested!
